Brief Answer:
Urinary tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

In diabetes type two there are chances of kidney damage but it happens over years. In such cases the serum creatinine would be out of range.

Need not worry, since the creatinine is normal I do not suspect anything serious here. Presence of protein in the urine can also be due to urinary tract infection. Also the urine sediment shows + for bacteria. this confirms the fact. Urinary tract infections are very common in diabetics and can be treated well.

She may have to be placed on a course of antibiotics and need to consume ample amount of water provided she is not hypertensive.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
Priority is to check diabetes and treat urinary infection

Detailed Answer:
Well all food goes through liver and kidney to some extent. Therefore it has some impact on kidney. However a healthy kidney is able to overcome subtle strains without significant outcomes. So my only suggestions to you are:
1. Keep blood sugars under check – never let it go out of control.
2. Avoid unnecessary medications – especially pain killers
3. Practice good personal hygeine to prevent recurring urinary tract infection
4. Rule out high blood pressure
5. Maintain weight within limits
