Question : I have often had bladder infections but never had blood in the urine. About 2 months ago, I was diagnosed by a kidney specialist that I had 2 very small kidney stones but he said I would not have any problem because they were so small. He said to have them checked in 2 years. I have just moved from XXXXXXX to XXXXXXX Sound, XXXXXXX and I do not have a doctor. I cannot take all drugs so my doctor gave me a prescription for MacroBID (Nitrofurantoin) 100mg because I have bladder infections so often. I started on these last night and instructions are to take twice a day. Will I continue with these? These have cured my infection before but I never had blood in my urine.Thank you.

Brief Answer:
can continue with medication as prescribed

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Urinary tract infections can be associated with blood in the urine though you have not have this symptom with previous infections.

Antibiotics help with this symptom if it is related to infection.

Blood in the urine (hematuria), can also occur as a result of kidney stones. Small stones tend to pass on their own with copious fluid intake.

You can continue to take the antibiotics prescribed.

If you do not notice any improvement, then it is possible that the bacteria causing the infection (if blood due to infection not stones), is resistant to the macrobid and an alternative is needed.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
