Suggest Treatment For UTI

Question: Ive had a UTI for about 6 days now. I was bleeding and had fever/back ache the first day only. The blood in the urine seems to have stopped today, and it only seemed to appear at the end of urination. I also have not had bowel movement for a few days. Could this be an STD? I've been on antibiotics for 4 days but symptoms are still present.

The most likely diagnosis that you have is urinary tract infection more specifically cystitis or infection of the urinary bladder. It could be STD and if you have a suspicion then you should get tested with the several STDs.

Macrobid would be a better antibiotic than amoxicillin to treat urinary tract infection since it has better coverage for bacteria that affects the urine.

After your treatment you should get another urine sample to confirm that you have successfully treated your UTI. drink plenty of fluids during and after treatment to help with your recovery.

Thank you. It seems to get worse at night time, and I am still concerned about the lack of bowel movements. Any idea of why these two things could be happening? I forgot to mention before that I have type 1 diabetes.

As we often say the bladder and the bowels are brothers and sistersl and anything that affects one will surely have an effect on the other. Also antibiotics changes the natural flora in our bowels and we need normal bacteria in our system for digestion and degradation of the food stuff that we consume. I would expect your bowel pattern to return normal once your UTI resolves.
