Brief Answer:
First time UTI no evaluation required, recurrent = elaborate evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Well, you should know that if this is the first time you have been diagnosed with a UTI (urinary tract infection) then there is nothing more to worry about, and simply treating the infection with antibiotics should suffice.

But if you have been suffering from recurrent UTI's then there has to be a more elaborate evaluation conducted. This can include:

+Ultrasound KUB (kidney ureters and bladder): In order to check on any kidney structural abnormalities, stones in the kidney or ureters, etc.

+Serum PSA levels: This will help in evaluation your prostate, as an enlarged prostate can cause retention of urine and thus the stagnation can lead to recurrent UTI's (most common cause in elderly males)

and a few other parameters. Please do speak to your doctor about the same. Please also feel free to write to me for any further clarifications or information, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
