Suggest Treatment For Ureaplasma Infection

default
Posted on Thu, 31 Jul 2014
Question: Im having problems with some irritation on the tip of my penis. About 3-5 days after unprotected sex, i was feeling some irritation on the tip of my penis with a little redness and swelling. I got trsted and was treated for ureaplasma. I showed the doctor my penis and said not to worry, it just looked irritated and to put cortaid on it. About 2 weeks after i first started having symptoms i was feeling moderate pain from that area that lasted about 2 weeks. Right now the pain varies on a day to day basis. Its mostly just bothersome, not really painful anymore. But im pretty concerned hoping i dont have warts or anything like that. All my other std tests came back negative and i have an appointment with a urologist in 10 days, but that seems years away due to the mental stress this is causing me. Right now it almost feels like a mild burn, other times it feels a little achy. Just hoping maybe i can get a little knowledge on this issue. The area is on the bottom side of my penis, right below the urthera.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and Venerologist answering.
You have been diagnosed as Ureaplasma which is usually a normal flora but is known to cause or produce non-gonococcal urethritis, epididymitis, orchitis and prostatitis.

Have you taken a course of antibiotics? if not please take a course of antibiotic either Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily preferably for 7 days or Azithromycin 1 gram single dose
you may take analgesics like brufen/diclofenac for pain. Also anithistmaines like cetrizine for any itching.
Drink plenty of water and fluids.
The photos do not show any warts. There is mild redness may be reduced due to application of cortaid or steroid cream for burning. Please reduce applying it gradually by tapering it over a week .
one clarification required:Was it earlier grouped vesicles (tiny shiny water filled rash)in that area ?
You can consult and take urologist opinion also.
Relax , always use protective like condoms if either of the partners have multiple partners
If you need any clarification you can get back to me any time.
Thank you
Dr Bharatesh
