Suggest Treatment For A Bartholin’s Duct Cyst

Please fix an appointment with Gynecologist.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Health Care Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani.
I appreciate your concerns. It is natural to be anxious as you have suffered this bartholin cyst several times.
I have read your notes. From your notes it appears that you probably are developing the bartholin cyst again. It may be still very small giving this pricky sensation and you are not able to see it.
The second probability is that there may be a superficial abrasion which is giving you this pricky sensation. Please fix an appointment with Gynecologist for examination, so that a correct diagnosis is made.
If you are found to have bartholin cyst again, it is important that you have marsupialization of the cyst done. You probably had only drainage of cyst before that is why it is recurring. It is a simple procedure usually done under general anaesthesia as a day case surgery. It takes about 15 minutes. In the procedure the roof of cyst wall is cut, fluid drained and edges of skin and cyst wall sutured to create a small pouch which allows any further fluid to drain out.
If you have already done this procedure and still the cyst has occurred (though rare to recur after marsupialization) then the cyst needs to be removed. This procedure needs to be done under general anesthesia and take s about an hour. You may need to stay in the hospital for 2-3 days.
I hope this is helpful. If you have further concerns, I will be happy to answer.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama

Thanks .
You cannot prevent the cyst from occurring.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Bartholin cyst has a small duct through which cyst secretions are drained out. The cyst occurs due to blockage of the duct. The duct can get blocked due to injury, mild inflammation etc which may be trivial.
If on examination it is proven to be Bartholin cyst try using sitz bath or apply moist warm compresses three to four times a day. This may open up the duct and help drain the cyst.
You cannot prevent the cyst from occurring. You can prevent it from getting infected by safe sexual practices and good hygiene.
I hope this is helpful. If you have further concerns, do write to me.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama.
