Question: Hi Doctor,

If it is a cold sore I would know right? I felt a pain as I was eating with a fork. I thought the side of fork may have cut my lip. So no im paranoid because one doctor told me that a blister or blisters can be so small that you don't even notice. and maybe that the blister broke open while i was eating....

If it was. cold sore I would have saw a blister or blisters on my lip when i put on ny lipstick before i had my lunch right?

Thank you...

Brief Answer:
Consideration

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

This does not sound like a typical cold sore. I would expect that you would have a burning sensation and tingling sensation that would persist in this particular area of concern. You would probably also see some skin change which would indicate early signs of a cold sore.

I suspect you have a small area of inflammation of the skin which is not likely related to a real cold sore. try not to scratch or pick at this particular area right now. If you do notice some changes or the beginning of numbness in tingling in that particular area or a burning sensation and you might consider using a topical preparation such as Abreva to help alleviate your symptoms.

Thank you again for sending the question. Again this does not sound like a typical cold sore that you have right now. Continue to observe things and hopefully you will feel much better within the next couple of days.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga

thank you for answering.

I'm not feeling any sensation where the tiny tiny cut/sore is.. actually i cant really see it unless i really stretch my lip.

my very first cold sore was like a bubble i can see and i knew what it was. would my future re occuring outbreak be the same? im taking lysin everyday.

Do you feel its okay for me to wash my face like I usually wash my face? I'm just afraid if it is a real cold sore then Id be spreading it everywhere on my face....

Detailed Answer:
It's fine to wash your face as usual. just don't use a lot of pressure close to the area of concern. Future outbreaks may not be a bubble. they may be much less severe. Lysine a good antiviral supplement.

I think you are in great shape to have a cold sore free life for a good long time.

Sincerley,

sorry doctor...

one more question...the small cut/cold or whatever it was...if it was a cold sore. would it be possible be healed in 3 days...no right?

i guess what im trying to do is to make sure it wasnt a cold sore since a cold sore even by taking lysin it would take longer than 3 days to heal. i understand its common but it is still not okay to pass on to others. so i want to make sure i dont pass it to others.

Brief Answer:
Considerations.

Detailed Answer:
You would expect it to take more than just three days to heal if it were a cold sore.

Thanks again.
