Question : My 6 year old son has a white pocket along the side if his thumbnail that resembles a blister but his thumb is fairly swolen I have him icing n elevating it now but I just did a little online reading and read that warm water soaks with epson salt is good and also that apple cider vinegar could help any suggestions I'm not going to er yet every time we go it's 4 to 6 hours and they give my kids over the counter children's pain killer and tell us nothing they can do to watch it for a few days then go to his pediatrician any help and thoughts are greatly appreciated even if I need to go to er I will

As per your description, it looks like your child got Acute paraonychia.It is collection of pus around nail.
Please do not apply anything. The pus has to be drained.
You should go to ER immediately and get the pus drained.He needs Antibiotic and anti inflammatory tablets too.Hence,a prescription is needed.
