Question : my zifoid broke off, football injury, causingpain, slips under my ribs.can that be cut out.
Brief Answer:
It generally improves with time.No Surgery needed.
Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic surgeon.
Xiphoid has some important muscle attachments particularly abdominal muscles. Normally it does not break off but is only strained and causes pain. healing is generally complete with time and does not require any surgery.
I would suggest pain killers , local heal and avoid strenuous abdominal movements like weight lifting for 3-4 weeks. It should settle.
Thanx for the question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
