Posted on Fri, 8 Jul 2016
Question: I have a lump in my stomach that shows up if sitting up like doing sit ups. after reading some online
it seems like it might be a hernia. A few years back I had a procedure done to try to help COPD which I am in final stage. it was stem cell therapy with a laser and did not help at all. my stomach just got fat and then I noticed the lump. My question is do you think that may be cause of hernia and would it make it harder for me to breathe because I don't have much room left in stomach?

Actually, herniahernia itself is not having any effect on COPD.
In fact uncontrolled or end stage COPD came cause hernia due to excessive coughing.
So in your case your uncontrolled COPD is not due to hernia but hernia is due to uncontrolled COPD.

Yes, I do have abdominal obesity but not fat anywhere else. I have tried to quit smoking many times, I have tried every remedy out there but can't sustain it. I am currently smoking again about two packs a week.

Smoking is the reason for your hernia and uncontrolled COPD.

Smoking is the cause for your uncontrolled COPD and hernia.
Actually tobacco smoke causes laxity in muscle strength. So muscles became weak and loose their strength. So hernia develops.
You should immediately quit smoking as soon as possible.
