default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jun 2016
Question: My mom has intense burning pain on right lower abdomen along with a red rash and fluid, the only thing that helps somewhat is an ice pack. The pain worsens with moving or coughing. What could these symptoms be a sign of? Every Doctor has passed her off and state they can't help her and we need guidance.

Brief Answer:
Post photos please, may be herpes/Shingles.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/66 - intense burning pain - red rash and fluid - right lower abdomen - worsens with coughing and moving - every Doctor has passed her off - state that they can not help her - Dermatologist gave Cetaphil and antibiotics - no help - only ice packs help - needs guidance....
Please give some more additional information for me to assist your better:
- Since when have these been present?
- Was the start with the burning pain alone and rash appeared later?
- is the rash in a peculiar line?
- Please post clear photographs as these sometimes help for on-the-spot diagnosis.

This may most probably be due to herpes rash and needs analgesics and sometimes the medicines that reduce the nerve pains like Gabapentin, amitryptiline or carbamazepine and these strictly need a prescription and to be given under the guidance of your Doctors.

I hope this answer helps her, please feel free to give feedback, post photos and ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is gap of communication...
