Brief Answer:
Probably

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Judging from the description of your symptoms a pinched nerve, is a possibility. In this case judging from the irradiation of the pain it would be a nerve in the upper neck levels.

Other possibilities would include an inflammation of the joints between the vertebrae which can manifest with similar pain (and cause nerve pinching as well). Also muscle spasm may be the culprit as well.

All these possibilities generally are in the setting of degenerative changes of the spine, different components of the same process, it often is an issue of those possibilities combined.

Painkillers like Aleve, muscle relaxers like Flexeril and physical therapy constitute management.

I remain at your disposal for other questions.
