Question : I had a sebaceous cyst on my shoulder drained 5 days ago. Doctor put me on cephalexin for 8 days (500MG, 3 times daily). Incision is healing nicely. I have had persistent headaches which seem to be getting worse. Can I stop taking this drug? I am a 68 year old male.
Brief Answer:
You can stop Cephalexin if there is no infection now.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Actually, sebaceous cyst has to be excised. If it is infected, the pus will be drained. Probably, sebaceous cyst got infected in your case for which drainage has been done.
If there is no evidence of infection, you can stop Antibiotic Cephalexin. If presence of infection is still suspected, you can change the Antibiotic.
For headache,I prescribe Paracetamol tablet 650mg thrice daily after food to my patients.
Clean the wound daily and apply dressing.
Please consult your doctor, get the wound examined and proceed accordingly.
Hope I answered your query.
Wish you speedy recovery.
Regards
