Question: As I am type 2 diabetics last 16 years, have had my routine 6 months check this week. Everything Infact HBA1C improved from 6.7% (Apr-14) , 6.5% (July-14) to 6.1%.(Oct-14). While other readings for blood urea changed from 21 to 24. Creatinine remain same 0.9 (both in April to Oct'14). The only thing that I started slightly worrying after seeing the change of A/C Ratio (Kidney function test) from 7 micro gram/ mg creatinine to 28 micro gram/ mg creatinine. Although absence of microalbuminuria, shooting the value from 7 to 28 is really that something worrying me. Althrough these 16 years the values are ranging from 2 to 7 only and just two times about 11 and 15 microgram. While other values fro kidney is normal, I want to know is this normal and value will become again same like that used to be or something I need to take more care... Appreciate your reply. thanks.

Brief Answer:
Findings are towards upper range(but within limit.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

Ratio of albumin to creatinine (ACR)in urine gives a good indication of how well kidneys are functioning, especially if patient is having diabetes mellitus.

Normal level of ACR is less than 30 µg albumin/mg creatinine.Though your values is increased up to 28 micro gram/mg creatinine,it is still within normal limit. It is towards upper range.
You need regular check-up.

Glycosylated hemoglobin(HBA1C) level is also acceptable.
Serum urea level is also normal. There may be slight variation in results.

It is good that you have controlled values even after long duration of diabetes mellitus.

Don't worry about reports. It is acceptable, but you should strictly follow your life style, medicines and diet.Hope findings improve in next follow up.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.
Further queries are most welcome.

Thank you for the reply
I hope the best thing is to maintain good control. If then, hope I can see better reading than what I had now although which is within normal limit. Is there anything that I need to follow to bring the value down other than keeping diabetics under control, like anything relating to avoid/add specific food in this regard. or something which is better for kidney function...
