Brief Answer:
Low protein level can be the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Swelling can be caused by several issues including low protein level, kidney failure or heart failure.
If you have any shortness of breath, weakness, chest pains, heart has to be checked with an ultrasound.
If your urine is foamy, most likely its a kidney issue and you are loosing proteins with it.
Stomach virus lasts few days and after a week its long gone. So it could be something else.
If you have not had any colonoscopy in last 10 years, it is good to have it done.

I suggest you to consult your doctor once again and have urine analysis and protein levels checked.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Protein rich diet can help.

Detailed Answer:
Low protein can appear due to low consumption of it or loosing it with urine. First you should check your urine. If no protein, you can try to increase protein intake with diet.
