Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Cramps And Diarrhea

Question: Had cramps and diarrhea for three or more months. The last week the diarrhea was explosive. Literally couldn't leave bathroom. When it was over I felt empty from my stomach, intestines and colon. I didn't have a bowel movement for a week. When they started again they were normal . I had lost 17 pounds during this time. Could I have Had a temporary viral condition?

I can understand your concerns.

Abdominal cramps with diarrhoea since last three months associated with weight loss is a matter of concern.

It could not be due to some temporary viral infection only.

You need evaluation in form of detail history, physical examination and tests. You require tests like stool examination, endoscopy, complete haemogram, thyroid function test, Anti TTg antibody for celiac disease etc depending upon the history and examination. So I will advise you to visit your doctor

Meanwhile take plenty of fluids and electrol powder to prevent fluid and electrolyte insufficiency
