Question: Hello I have been placed on Rapatha to help lower my LDL. I am experiencing a high degree of muscle pain (especially in hands),dizziness, muscle cramps (at night-very,very strong in legs),and general fatique throughout the day. I had similar problems with statin (Crestor),which is why doc switched to Repatha. I take extra magnesium and Ubiquinol (100mg.) to try and offset these problems. I take prescribed Effient (10mg.) as I've had a stent approx 2 yrs. ago I also take a daily dose of Synthroid .175 mg. for long term Graves disease and need for synthetic hormone. Male,69 yrs,6 ft,1''-200lbs. Any help highly appreciated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I carefully passed through your question and would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to Rapatha adverse effects.

I would like to know your actual blood lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL and LDL values).

Considering your symptoms, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical exam and some tests:
- complete blood count
- liver and kidney function tests
- CPK levels
- blood electrolytes.

If there is a raise in your CPK or liver enzyme levels, I would recommend you to stop taking Rapatha for a short period of time (a month) and monitor your symptoms during this period.

Some lifestyle modifications are necessary to help maintain normal cholesterol levels naturally:
- use Mediterranean diet
- use a lot of food rich in omega 3 fatty acids (fish, fish oil, olive oil, walnuts, almonds, etc.)
- perform a lot of physical activity (Yoga and aerobics).

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
