default
Posted on Tue, 9 Feb 2016
Question: Hi dr,

I've been on Nexium for 3 weeks now and the last couple of days I have been suffering from stomach pains and pooing only gives relief for a while. Should I start coming off these tablets? I was on the 40mg for 2 weeks and now I went down to 20mg to wein myself off it but im wondering if I should just stop because of the stomach discomfort im having and the fact the acid reflux has started to stop since I have also changed my diet. So what would be best to do? I also have Quickease from time to time.

Kind Regards,
Daniel

Consider Maintaining on changed diet at this stage!!

Detailed Answer:
Brief Ans-Consider Maintaining on changed diet at this stage!!
Diagnosis-Nexium induced Diarrhea
Hi Dear!!Thanks for your query to HCM.
You should do as follows-
As you are suffering from Nexium induced Diarrhea

Based on facts of you query, I would suggest you to stop this drug as its causing stomach pains / and pooing.
You should maintain with diet only, which would resolve current health issues.
You should stop,as the stomach disturbance is caused by it.
Nexium is not going to help your stomach pains, it is increasing it, due to side effects from its prolonged use.
As you are getting relief in acid reflux after dietary change,Consider Maintaining on changed diet at this stage.!!
Reply-
So Don't Worry .You need to Stop Nexium immediately.

Welcome for further query in this regard if any.

I have one other question if the heartburn does return is there other ways besides going back on Nexium to tame it in a sense? I'd rather avoid that medication and do it naturally or with much weaker meds.

Brief Ans-Options are there / and would depend on assessment at that time..!!

Hi Dear !! Thanks for the update query.
There are many options other than Neksium , which would be decided depending on cause of heartburn at that time. With suggestions on diet / lifestyle, if you follow meticulously, that recurrence of heartburn will not come.

Keep me updated if you get heartburn in future, by a direct query to me.

Follow Suggestions on change of Diet style, which are already given in my earlier reply.

Hope this would resolve your anxiety.

Hope these interaction and replies would keep you healthy and away from illness issues you have right now.
