HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This would be called gastroenteritis. This is most commonly due to a viral or bacterial infection of the gastrointestinal tract.

It would normally only last a few days, less than a week and treatment is mostly symptomatic (treat the symptoms present not the virus or bacteria itself)

Treatment involves: (1) hold off solid food till there is a 4 hour window with no symptoms.

When this 4 hour passes, start with a small amount of dry food eg biscuits, bread, rice etc
If this is tolerated then the amount of food can be increase and you can use different types

(2)fluids are very important to prevent or treat dehydration

It would be best to use oral rehydration solutions or sport drinks such as gatorade or powerade so that you can get back both fluids and electrolytes/salts, that you are losing.
This would reduce any weakness that you are experiencing

(3)probiotics , either in yogurts or on their own may help as well. They have been shown to shorten the course in some persons.

(4)paracetamol/tylenol may help ease the pain

(5)most persons would hold off medications for a bit so that the infection can flush itself out but if you are not able to tolerate this, you can try pepto bismol or lomotil to see if it stops the diarrhea

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
