Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Nausea

default
Posted on Mon, 4 May 2015
Question: My wife has had a colostomy bag for 3 years. Today she had severe abdominal pain and nausea. Then, this evening after we cleaned the bag, the discharge from the bag is red and looks like blood. This has never happened before. Should we go to ER?

WE NEED TO KNOW RIGHT NOW WHETHER WE SHOULD GO TO AN EMERGENCY ROOM, NOT TOMORROW. IF BLOOD IS IN THE BAG, AND I MEAN SEVERAL TABLESPOONS, AT LEAST A FOURTH OF A CUP, SHOULD I TAKE HER RIGHT NOW TO ER?

Brief Answer:
Please rush her to the ER.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Yes Sir. You should take her to the ER.
The reasons being, the presence of so much of blood indicate that this should be investigated immediately and treated if required.
The most probable reasons are:
Intususception of the bowel. This means a part of the bowel passes through the bowel due to severe peristalsis.
The projected one gets congested and can bleed. Other causes are like telangiectasia and so on.

I hope this answer helps you.

Without an immediate answer, which I thought I would get, I took the conservative action and took her to ER after waiting for a response from you for 30 minutes. It was an emergency and I needed quick response, which I think that your website indicates that I would get.

Therefore, I request a refund of the charges. Your answer was too late to help. XXXXX
