Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Nausea

Posted on Fri, 2 Jun 2017
Question: Hey doctor,

The last 4 days I've been having abdominal pains and nausea especially in the morning when I wake up and need to poo. It's only painful though when I need to poo, I just get a burning pain in my stomach when I'm passing a stool that I don't usually have. The stool isn't any harder to pass than it normally is it's just the burning type of pain that makes it uncomfortable. I also noticed is that my stools seemed to have white streaks which I haven't seen before. I'm not sure what is causing the pain but it could be because I haven't been eating healthy the last week or so which could be a contributing factor but ever since this occurred I've changed my diet back to healthy foods including fruits, vegetables and I a daily Yakult probiotic. I usually exercise at the gym 4-5 times a week and I do train abs so I'm not sure if that could make it worse. What do you think it is exactly and how can I treat it? I was planning on visiting the local gp if it doesn't get better in the next couple of days.

Kind Regards,
Daniel

Brief Answer:
Enteritis along with depleted intestinal bacterial flora.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting your query on this forum.
Have gone through your details and i appreciate your concerns.

Our gut consists of trillions of communities of good bacteria's.These bacteria's in intestine acts on food and assist in proper digestion of food. However eating unhealthy and junk food causes depletion of this good bacterial colonies.Hence the food starts to accumulate in intestines and is acted upon by bad bacteria's leading to its fermentation releasing lots of toxic gases which are also responsible for feeling of nausea.Pressure appplied by these gases on intestines may cause abdominal pain.

Along with this you are likely having enteritis.Enteritis means inflammation of muicosal layer of intestines. This inflammation results in spasmodic pain while intestine contracts and relax(persitalsis).

For few days with good diet take the following medicines after that shift only to healthy diet-

Take Omeprazole 40 mg once daily(will provide relief in burning)
Probiotic like Econorm thrice daily(This will help to restore good bacterial flora in gut).
Take a antispasmodic for few days like Drotaverine(this will help you with spasmodic abdominal pain).
Get a stool routine test done as in case there is a bacterial or protozoal infection therapy with Azithromycin and Tinidazole would be given.
Take easily digestible vegetarian food for few da.
Take lots of probiotic rich food.
Eat a bowl of banana daily.
As over all digestion wil improve the streaks on stool would go away and stool will gain its origional cosistency bulk and color.White Spots in Stool Caused by Low Bile Content. Bile is produced by the liver and is responsible for the yellow-brownish color of normal stools but initially don't go for any investigation for initial 4-5 days.In case the problem continues then an ultrasound abdomen would be done.
For the time being don't do abdominal exercises dear it may increase intestinal inflammation.

You should feel better in 4-5 days.

Kind regards.
