Posted on Mon, 21 Aug 2017
Question: I have belly pain. Belly is distended and very tender to the touch. Less crampy than yesterday, but very sore,
Can't eat, constipated. Was in Martha's Vineyard and ate a lot of raw clams and oysters which I don't usually do. No one else in my group is sick. No energy, no temperature, a little achey everywhere. Thoughts. ?

Brief Answer:
possible colon pseudoobstruction

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.

First, if there is progressive pain, vomit, and absence of flatus and stool, then you should see ER since it may indicate bowel obstruction whcih should be treated surgically or by specific measures.

If this is not present then this is probably just constipation or pseudoobstruction.
This can be caused by diet ad you mentioned.
At this point, you need to increase fiber intake. Good fiber sources include XXXXXXX and other whole grains found in cereals, breads, and brown rice, vegetables such as brussels sprouts, carrots, and asparagus. Also, fresh fruits, or dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and prunes Beans.

Second if there is no improvement, you may try a laxative such as Fleet Phospho-Soda, Milk of Magnesia, or glycerin suppositories.

If there wont be improvement on these measures, you should consider doing diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy, anal sphincter manometry and food allergy testing.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
