Brief Answer:
Malabsorbtion/ need to do other exams

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you using HCM.
I read carefully your query an d understood your concern.
Your signs like pale yellow greasy diarrhea and weight loss are related with malabsorbtion.
So you need to do:
-fecal malabsorbtion tests
-upper endoscopy with biopsy in D3 portion
-colonoscopy
- serology tests to rule out celiac disease
I need to know too if you have used any treatment before this happened?
am glad to know that abdominal CT and US are normal so you have ruled out gallbladder and pancreas disease.
For the moment I suggest to take plenty of water and avoid fatty and sweet foods. Take more fibrous diet.
Wishing you all the best

I was on a few courses of antibiotics for an infected tooth before this all started.

I cant see a gastroenterologist until 6 weeks from now! Ive never been so sick in my life. Does it sound like celiac disease? Can you develop that at 34 years old?

I have to try something. Should i try gluten free diet?

Brief Answer:
Please follow the suggestions below...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXX,

The use of antibiotics prior to the symptoms beginning is explaining your actual stool problems. This is because antibiotics will alter the normal intestinal flora with stool presentation as in your case.

In such cases, when my patients are put on antibiotics, I usually advise to take probiotics too as they will optimize the intestinal flora without altering its normal function.

However, in your case now, candida thrush is suspected, so I recommend to start anti-mycotic medication together with probiotic.

Anti-mycotic might be nystatin or miconazole orally and you need prescription for that. While, probiotics can be found over the counter.

Gluten free diet can also help. You can try it too.

I advise to try these first, as I do not think your symptoms are indicating celiac disease as per your medical history.

Wish fast recovery!
