Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It sounds like you have developed either an infection or some inflammation in your digestive tract. From the location of your pain I suspect it may be a gastritis (stomach inflammation). First try an over the counter acid blocker like omprazole and see if that helps. Take it 30 minutes before your largest meal of the day. Also add a probiotic once a day on an empty stomach.
If the pain gets worse at any point or if your symptoms do not resolve in a week to 10 days then see your doctor for further testing. He or she may need to do some stool studies to rule out infection.
If you see any blood in your stool or black tarry stools then see your doctor right away.
It would be helpful to get rid of any foods/drinks that might irritate the digestive system like alcohol, tobacco, citrus, caffeine or tomatoes.
I hope you are feeling better soon,
Dr. Robinson
