Suggest Treatment For Accidental Consumption Of Melted Plastic

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Sep 2016
Question: Hello, while cooking with ground chicken, I accidentally dropped the meat absorbent pad from the package into the skillet. I quickly retrieved it but (after my husband and I ate our meal) I noticed that it had partially melted during its short time in the skillet. Not too much as it was only touching the skillet for a few seconds. All the information I can find says that it's fine as long as the pad did not break or melt, but since I now know mine did melt and I ate the food that come into contact with it, I'm wondering if this an urgent situation or just a life lesson.
I really appreciate any help.

Brief Answer:
Its just a life lesson

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at HealthcareMagic.

I am Dr Vaishalee, MD Pharmacology and I am here to assist you.

Meat absorbent pads are made of gelatin in some plastic like mesh to absorb any drippings from meant. From your query I can figure out that only a small quantity of pad melted onto skillet. This small quantity if ingested should not cause any toxicity.

Even if it had caused any symptoms, these would disappear soon. Let me know if you are experiencing any symptoms.

So please be relaxed and move in life. Nothing much to worry about.

Hope it helps.
