Question : I found an empty 600mg foil ibuprofen packet (single tablet) my three year old said my 18month (10.4kg) daughter ate the "sweet" what do I do?! I just found the packet but not sure when it supposedly occurred or if it was already empty. I have no medical insurance and the last false alarm cost us 1000euro she seems fine, no price on her health but as I said last time I took her brother to the hospital it was a false alarm and came at a hefty price...; What can I do, does she need the hospital?! Shes happy and awake, as is her brother (3years, 14.7kg)
Is there something I should look out for or do now to prevent something?

Brief Answer:
Be on the lookout for any untoward signs

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have very carefully gone through your query and have carefully considered the situation. The highest level of what is considered safe dose of ibuprofen is 40 mg/kg although for children below 30 kg, the maximum recommended dose is 500 mg. So, it is practically a borderline situation if the foil was full. But the tolerance limit in higher than the recommended dose.

In this scenario I would suggest you to be patient and look out for overdose symptoms. The overdose symptoms are:
* Gastrointestinal - Nausea and vomiting as ibuprofen is renowned for causing gastritis.
* Respiratory - Breathing difficulties.
* Neurological - Dizziness and altered sensorium, unsteadiness.
* Renal - Urinary shutdown.
In case they occur, you would need to rush her to a hospital ER without any further delay. But if they do not occur, you can relax.

Hope for the best.
