Question : cannot sleep tonight due to spitting out saliva. I had butternut soup at 7pm has that got any to do with it?

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I doubt the butternut soup/squash has anything to do with it, and in my opinion this is more due to either acid reflux or some infection (if you have a fever or any other such symptoms).
Please let me know if you have symptoms like:
+Heart burn
+Increased gas production
+Belching
+Regurgitation of food or liquid frequently
+Bitter taste in mouth
+Sensation of something in the throat
+Chest pain at times
+Abdominal bloating
and a few others.

recently I was given CLOPIDOGREL to reduce calcium

Hello once again sir.
Steroids have been a cause for acid reflux as there have been numerous cases reporting the same. If you have noticed the increased liquid reflux since or a while after the steroids were initiated then this could be the most probable cause for the reflux.
Either way, I do recommend a few lifestyle modification, dietary changes along with the initiation of tablet omeprazole twice daily, 15 minutes before breakfast and 15 minutes before dinner every day.
I do not think the clopidogrel has anything to do with it, but please do write back to me about your ideas and opinions as well as I would love to hear you out.
