Suggest Treatment For Acne-like Blemishes On Nose

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Sep 2015
Question: I'm experiencing acne-like blemishes, however unlike usual, they're appearing under my beard and hair, as well as on my nose, including inside the nose near the septum. These blemishes are more painful than usual acne, and harder to remove, and there seem to be more each time I check the mirror, despite how often I wash. What could be the cause of this and what could I do to fix it?

Brief Answer:
They seem to be infected sebaceous cysts

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I understand your concerns. I have carefully analyzed your condition and it seems to be a collection of sebaceous secretions. Our skin has sebaceous glands which secrete an oily substance. Due to some reason if the mouth of these glands gets blocked, the material gets collected inside and forms what is known as sebaceous cysts. Since the mouth does not open up in spite of repeated washing, they are harder to remove.

At times these may get infected and become painful. And if they are quite large they might need to be incised to let their contents out. Hence seeing a doctor should be a good idea.

In any case, application of retinoic acid ointment might help. You would need a prescription to obtain it.

Do these cysts resemble whitehead acne? My afflictions look like whitehead pimples and can be removed with an acne tool. I've just never seen so many at one time, nor seen them in the locations they're in.

Brief Answer:
Yes, they are similar

Detailed Answer:
Yes, these cysts resemble whitehead acne. In fact white heads are nothing but sebaceous secretions portruding from the opening of these glands. You might be able to remove them with acne tool. However, that might not always be the case.
