Brief Answer:
Laser acne scar reduction: suggestions and guidance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the acne scars and treatment by laser procedure.

Acne scars are one of the most common and difficult to treat sequel of the pimples. I have gone through the pictures and can make out that you have different grades and depths of scars.

Your doctor is quite correct in his/her approach of using laser for the same. There are different types of laser are used for the treatment of acne scars. In your kind of scars the best suitable laser is FRACTIONAL LASER. Do get an information for the same by your doctor that what laser is proposed for your treatment.

In general fractional lasers give an improvement of 40 to 70% in around 3 sittings. There are no such big side effects in the same. There can be mild to moderate pain at the time of laser. To reduce the same a topical anesthetic cream such as Lidocaine/prilocaine is used to numb the area.

Immediately after the laser procedure there is moderate redness over the treated area along with mild pain. This is settled in a day or two. The most important one is "Post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation" which can occur after 2-3 weeks of treatment. But if a proper sun protection and sunscreens are used then this part is either not present or if present then is quite minimal.

I hope this information will help you.
