Acute Pancreatitis, management should be in hospital

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the query at HCM

Treatment of acute pancreatitis include
-Fasting (Not eating anything orally) for few days until pain subsides to give your pancreas rest
-You will be given Intravenous fluids in the hospital while fasting
-Pain control medications
-Avoid consuming alcohol or smoking.
-CT scan of the pancreas will be done to look for areas of necrosis/ infection which require treatment with antibiotics and surgery.
-Cause for pancreatitis like gallstones, pancreatic duct obstruction, diabetes, high cholesterol etc should be looked for and treated accordingly
-Serum electrolytes like calcium, phosphate, sodium, potassium etc will be monitored closely in the hospital
-Pancreatic enzymes, blood pressure, pulse rate will also be monitored
