Brief Answer:
You need to consult qualified Urologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have developed acute retention of urine due to Enlarged Prostate .

Since you have been catheterized once and has developed retention of urine again after removing catheter You need to go to Hospital immediately get admitted and get catheterized again to empty your bladder and get evaluation done by a qualified Urologist .

You need to get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis and to decide about the further modality of treatment .
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Urine retention is so far manageable pain-wise (a "5"). Could enlarged prostate subside or remain same size, so that I can get to urology acute care clinic in six hours?

Brief Answer:
Enlarged prostate will not subside .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .
The enlargement of prostate is a very long process and is very common above the age of 60 years .The retention that one gets is due to obstruction to urine flow due to enlarged prostate gland .

Retention of urine signifies that one needs to remove the prostate to make thee passage clear off obstruction .Urologist will explain you regarding the modalities of treatment depending upon the size of the gland and degree of obstruction etc .

Thanks and Regards.
