Brief Answer:
Antiotics ineffective

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I have checked the attached report. It does not indicate any bacterial infection. Antiobiotics are effective only against bacteria and so are not expected to help. In case of throat infections irrespective of whether the infection is bacterial, the recovery occurs in same duration.

In this scenario where the eosinophil count is raised, the allergic component is evident. You need to give Montair LC (monteleukast + levocetirizine) once daily for the next few days. Please discuss with your doctor before using. Be sure to make her gurgle with lukewarm water a few times a day. Also give her steam inhalation.

She also needs to avoid cold temperatures.

Brief Answer:
It should not be the first line of treatment.

Detailed Answer:
I would not recommend giving Hetrazan. It is an antifilarial. Although filariasis is a possible cause of rise in eosinophil count, it is not the only reason. With the allergic cough already being the possibility I would not like to worry about filariasis (it is unrelated to the symptoms anyway).

Try steam inhalation. It is your best weapon against the dry cough. I understand that Montair LC is not helping but be sure to continue it.

Let me know if I could help further.
