Question : My husband accidently used Fluorouracil on his scrotum. It is now red, weeping and very irritated. What can he use to help heal it. He only used it once thinking he had something else.

Hi

I completely understand your concern and I hope I am able to help you for the same.
Your husband seems to have developed an irritant skin reaction over the scrotal region due to application of fluorouracil.
First of all,you should not definitely use the powder since it might irritate the skin even more and worsen the skin reaction.
Such an allergic reaction is quite common after using this medicine over the sensitive areas of the body. He needs to apply a combination of steroid and antibiotic creams so as to control the allergic process as well as prevent any superadded infection.
He should mix and apply cortisone cream and mupirocin cream over the affected areas twice a day.
He should keep the affected areas clean and dry by washing and drying it twice a day before application of the medicine.
In addition, he needs to take some oral antihistamine like tablet claritin once a day to bring down the associated allergic process.
He should not apply any other cream or oil over it.
