                                            intralesional Steroid injection
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern.
For alopecia aerata, intralesional Steroid injection that is Triamcinolone acetonide is the treatment of choice. The injections are given every 3 weeks till complete hair growth is seen . In extensive and non responding cases, consideration is given to start oral steroids like daily Prednisolone or pulse therapy of Methylprednisolone. It usually responds to treatment in 4 - 6 weeks and full growth may take 4-6 months also. Alongwith steroid injection, I advice my such patients to apply topical minoxidil 5 percent lotion twice daily over the affected area. Oral tablets containing Biotin, Calcium pantothenate, selenium as main componentare also prescribed.
You should visit your doctor so that he can examine you and give you prescription. You can share my opinion with him. I hope it helps. Take care.
