                                            Question : Hi,
I am suffering from Alopecia Areata Barbae for past 5 months and been undergoing homeopathy treatment for the past 2 months with not much improvement( only very few white hairs growing).
I recently consulted a dermatologist who prescribed be DICARIS 150 mg to be taken on 2 consecutive days ( for 4 weeks) along with use of STERNON Gel ( twice a day ) and Becadexamin Multimineral Capsules to be taken after dinner everyday for 30 days.
Should i do the adhere to him or just continue with the homeopathy medicines i have been prescribed ?
Will there be any side effects of the above medicines like affect on sexual health etc.
I am highly stressed and terribly worried about the same.
Please help.

                                    Brief Answer:
Adhere to allopathy
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have read your question and I have also reviewed the Image.
It is clearly alopecia areata. I won't suggest homeopathy at all.
I suggest you to continue with dicaris and sternon gel. In addition I would also suggest you to apply minoxidil 5% solution (mintop forte), twice daily at affected patches, twice daily, 30 minutes before applying sternon gel.
These medicines have no sexual side effects
Regards

                                    Hi,
On the insistence of my family i took a second opinion from another dermatologist who suggested me the following :-
1. Kenacort 40 mg injection (3 nos) in gaps of 2 weeks &
2. Application of Minoxidil & Aminexil Topical Solution twice everyday.
After 6 weeks of the above he would review my situation and give me Steriod Injection locally on the patches if necessary.
Is the above mentioned treatment better.
Please advise.
Regards,

                                    Brief Answer:
This treatment plan with steroid infection is first choice
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
This treatment plan is also absolutely fine. In fact steroid injections into the patches, rather than topical steroid i.e sternon gel, is the first choice of treatment for alopecia areata. However kenacort 10 mg/ml rather than 40 mg/ml is to be used for alopecia areata. Also continue with topical minoxidil+aminexil, twice daily.
Another option is to use sternon gel, instead of streoid injections along with minoxidil + aminexil solution. This would be second choice.
You may also take dicaris with both these treatment approaches.
