Question: Yes, my spouse has had 2 XXXXXXX strokes. He has become very angry with me. His behavior has changed and he blows things out of proportion and every few days we go through situations where he hates me, wants to get a divorce and then realizes what he's done and is totally ashamed of himself. I don't know how to help him.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. There could be two reasons for this behavior. First, repeated stroke have made him frustrated and depressed. As a result he is treating you like this. Second, repeated stroke has effected brain resulting in altered mood behavior. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following:
> Treat him with care & affection no matter how he responds at the moment. He is ill and needs extra care.
> Make him feel comfortable & feel that he will be fine.
> Try to avoid talks that will aggravate tension between you two.
> Take him out for outing in the evening. Even a walk of 30-45 mins will change his environment & he will feel better.
> You can consult a neurosurgeon who can run some tests like MRI brain to check if stroke has caused any damage to brain. If he clears then take him to a psychologist. He will discuss some relaxing techniques that will he you two alot.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you two good health !!
