Question: I had a tooth pulled on 7/11/16, it was a failed root canal that was performed in March 2016 that never really stopped being sensitive. When I got home they told me to wait 1/2 hr before taking gauze out & when I did he clot came out with it. I've had it packed twice now with some king of clove paste in a syringe @ the dentist. Tonight I was just trying to get the food out that was stuck & I used my water pik with water diluted listerine & I made it bleed by having the water pressure on it form the pik........it was a split second & it's throbbing terrible. Please give me some advise if you can, desperate:(

Brief Answer:
Inflamed extraction socket, take painkiller..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain as you have lost the blood clot from the extraction socket that is responsible to initiate healing of the extraction socket, therefore you need a sedative dressing which is already being given to you..
It will help in preventing pain and help in promoting healing..

As you must have applied excessive pressure to remove the food stuck from the extraction socket that is still in the healing phase, therefore you experienced bleeding and throbbing..

Do not worry as it will be fine..
Take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to relieve throbbing..
Avoid chewing from the side you have the extraction socket and prefer soft diet..
While cleaning be gentle and do not put excessive pressure..

Be calm as there is nothing to worry...

Hope this helps..

Regards.
