default
Posted on Tue, 16 Aug 2016
Question: I am 65 yo male, 5'9, 174#. Recently diagnosed with left hip Labral tear. Yesterday I noticed an olive sized lump just below sternum, tender when pressed. Most obvious when in prone position. Had a physical complete with blood tests two months ago and all tests were normal. Any thoughts on this condition? Even though I just had a physical would I be advised to go back for a check on this. I am fairly active with biking, walking and golf. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
A soft tissue benign swelling likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
An olive sized lump just below the sternum can be a lipoma or a soft tissue swelling. It is likely to be a benign swelling and does not need an immediate check up. You can self monitor the swelling for pain or an increase i size. In such a case, do get it evaluated.
I hope this answers your query.
