Suggest Treatment For Anal Bleeding Caused By Constipation

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Jan 2016
Question: I experienced constipation for a couple of days and bleeding. Now I am in excruciating pain when having a bowel movement and there is still pain just while resting. That's been going on for 3-4 days. Now I noticed that the whole area has bumps and is very sore. I've been treating for hemmorhoids since yesterday but am still in a lot of pain and don't understand the painful bumps.

Brief Answer:
sitz baths, topical anesthetics, oral anti inflammatory pain killers

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Bumps form as part of the body's inflammatory response to any trauma.

In this case, the severe constipation would have caused trauma to the rectum and anus.

In addition to your current treatment, you may want to consider:
(1) sitz baths, these would help to soothe the area

If possible, should be done 2 to 3 times a day for 15 to 20 minutes in warm (not hot) water, which can contain salt or epsom salts.

(2)a topical anesthetic cream such as lidocaine or benzocaine would help reduce the discomfort in the area

(3)oral anti inflammatory pain killers such as naproxen, ibuprofen, voltaren would help to reduce the pain and the bumps seen

(4)a stool softener- soft stools at this stage would be easier to pass. Eg colace, surfak etc
Drinking a lot of water may also help with bowel movements

AFTER this acute episodes, to avoid in the future
(1) drink at least 8 glasses of fluid daily. This does not include any caffeine drinks or alcohol because these cause the body to lose fluids

(2) use at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetable daily. This means with main meals and as part of any snacks used

Use whole grain foods as well

(3)consider a fiber supplement. It can be difficult to get enough fiber so using fiber supplements such as metamucil, cetrucil , benefiber , would help make sure that you get enough daily fiber

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
