Suggest Treatment For Anal Fissure

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Oct 2015
Question: Hi, I have been experiencing a slight pressure in my anus lately. Believe me I know how this sounds but it's true. About a month ago I took a very large stool, at least I think I did, and it felt like I pulled something down there. Now when I sit for a time or even stand, I feel a pain in my anus/colon etc. Not a shooting pain but a slight pressure and not as bad as before.

Brief Answer:
Anal fissure.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Most probable reason of your symptoms is anal fissure. Its nothing more than a wound of the anus caused by hard stool, pushing hard on stool, constipation. Pressure, itching, pain, trace of blood are typical signs of such wound. Usually the wound is not deep. Just superficial layer of the anus is injured.
That is why, it usually can be treated without any complications.
I suggest you to try such treatment:
- start OTC suppositories for hemorrhoids
- have sitz baths with Oak Bark twice a day for 7 days
- wash your anus after every stool
- do not push hard on stool
- avoid constipation (start fiber intake)

Such treatment should help in a week or so. As you are 50, it is time for your first colonoscopy. Even if the treatment will cause full recovery.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards
