Question: hi i have been suffering from an anal fissure since last XXXXXXX (2013). I was referred to a colorectal specialist by my GP in Nov last year who presribed diltiazam cream to apply to fissure area for 6 weeks. I now only experience irritation in anal area at the site of the fissure but the pain is not severe as it was before. Not sure if fissure is healing or may need to see the specialist again.

Hi,
Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic!
I think that it is getting healed as you do not have pain and have only irritation.
Investigations like anoscopy would help in knowing whether there is still presence of fissure and if there is need for additional management.
Constipation is the main cause of anal fissure. And chances of it's recurrence is more if constipation persists. So, I suggest to eat more fiber rich diet consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables, leafy vegetables and avoid butter, cheese, oily food and junk food. This is just preventive advice.
