I am XXXX and I'm a medical student. This past few weeks I have noticed some 'polyps' on my anal area. I thought it was nothing as it is painless and does not cause any discomfort. However I was getting concerned and took a photo of my anal area and I was surprised that there are warts around my anus. I'm just going to be honest with you that I had 2-3 times of anal sex before with men these past few months but now I have stop doing it since about 2 months ago. I'm really concerned with condition. Please help me. Thank you.
Test for other STD
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I checked the pictures uploaded. I suggest you to stay calm first. You have classic anal wart. At this juncture I would not be worried until you test for ELISA for HIV. It is imperative to test for other co infections that may associate with Genital warts caused by HPV 6 or 11 type.
It is also better to get a STD profile like Hepatitis B and C as well which can prove fearsome at later stage. If the STD profile is positive go for the prophylaxis against the STD. IF the STD is negative you are god forbid saved. You should not repeat such risky acts in future.
I do not think you need to treat the anal warts as long as they do not bother you with symptoms. Otherwise you can opt for Podofilox 0.5% / Imiquinomod 5%. They are over the counter in most countries.
They are available in gel or solution and should be applied over the warts with cotton twice a day for three days and four days gap (one week). You can repeat this cycle for two to three weeks.
Hope this answers
Thank you for your response. I want know if I can start with the topical treatment for the warts first before going for the tests as I do not have the available time for now. I also want to know what are the alarming signs of the warts that I should start be concerned about it? Sometimes there is mild itchiness on my anal area.
Apart from that, I have read some articles in the internet that there are some home remedies that might help treat the anal warts such as banana peels & pineapple juice. Are these remedies useful & recommended?
And lastly, can this warts spread to the other areas of the body if it is left untreated? What should I do to avoi the spread?
Thank you. d
There is no complete treatment relapses are common
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If I were you treating doctor I would advise for testing than treatment. Treatment is only for cosmetics and has no reason to worry about complications. THere is negligible chance of scarring and fibrosis. A lot of doctors do not advise any treatment for anal warts. They can spread to other areas as HPV is highly infectious to other areas. Just avoid future contacts to avoid spread and go for the above topical treatment that may contain the spread.
I am not sure if the home remedies are any effective. If you still want to treat I would suggest the same as above.
I am trying to crush the risk factor first.
