Suggest Treatment For Anemia

Question: I was diagnosed with anemia after talking a broad blood test. Doctor said the next step should be a colonoscopy to see where blood is leaking . Why do I have to take this test?

Iron deficiency anemia is a common type of anemia (a condition in which blood lacks enough red blood cells) and can be a signal of blood loss through the intestines.

So,colonoscopy is one of the diagnostic tools to find the cause of anemia because of the chances of internal bleeding in the intestine.

Most often the the patient is not aware of blood in stool we call it occult blood.

First of all test for occult blood should be done and if it comes positive then doctors usually go for the colonoscopy to find the cause and exact site of bleeding.So,we can plan further treatment.
