Suggest Treatment For Anteroseptal Infarction With High BP

Question: I went to the doctor yesterday just to get refills of my blood pressure med - Metoprolol Tart 25 Mg twice a day. However, when I arrived, my blood pressure was very high - 172/117. They had me lie down and turned off the light in the exam room. I laid there for around 15 minutes - breathing slowly in hopes that my pressure would come down. They re-checked it and it only came down a few points to 166/114. We repeated the process and it came down a little more but was still high. They decided to perform an EKG. The results were abnormal - probable anteroseptal infarct (old). My doctor is setting me up with a cardiologist for further evaluation. While I'm waiting for that, I'd like to know more about what probable anteroseptal infarct means and how concerned I should be when this result is combined with high blood pressure.

Brief Answer:
MI needs work up and management.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

i read your question and i understand your concern. With high blood pressure and anteroseptal infarcts even old will need work up like perfusion studies like angiography, echo or MIBG scan etc to sort out the damage. They will then decide if you need a stenting or a bypass surgery.

Anterior portion of the septum in between the right and left chambers of your heart is not getting enough supply may be due to the blocked vessel supplying it. That needs work up to sort it out. No worries there are management steps and perfectly manageable with good compliance and prompt treatment.

meanwhile you need to reduce your blood pressure , keep an eye on it and let your doctor decide what is best for you.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
