Question : I took 10mg of Zaleplon and it made me not sleep. I am anxious and can not get comfortable. I also am having breathing problems. I have Asthma and I guess I should not have taken Zaleplon. It was my first dose and I will not take it again. Since it is 6:30 on Sunday morning, I am not going to call the doctor. I am hoping that the anxiousness and breathing will wear off as the medicine wears off. Do you feel that I am correct?

I can understand your concern. Zaleplone belongs to Z drugs and used for management of early insomnia.

If we consider its pharmaceutical properties then the drug is having ultrafast half life and its duration of action is also small if we compare it with other drugs used go sleep. The drug is relatively safe in terms of respiratory side effects also. So in my opinion there is no need to worry. The anxiety is probably occurring due to fear only and not due to drug.

For some time delay taking Xanax or Klonopin because this might increase risk of side effects. Anxiety will reduce spontaneously.
