Suggest Treatment For Anxiety, Manic-depression, OCD And ADHD

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Sep 2015
Question: I'm having bad issues with anxiety and manic depression. I also have ocd and ADHD. I take Paxil 40 mg and seraquel 50 mg but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick. I find myself resorting to self medicating by using drugs which only makes things 1000 times worse. Does anyone have any suggestions on medications to suggest to my doctor for these kinds of issues??

Brief Answer:
appropriate diagnosis, drugs accordingly.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.

I can understand your concerns.

You suffer from anxiety, manic-depression, OCD and ADHD.
You take paxil 40mg and seroquel 50mg.

First thing is to assess and reach to some diagnosis.

Depression, anxiety and OCD would be dealt with SSRI like paxil or prozac.
Giving SSRI alone in manic-depression can cause switch to mania.

If its mania, you would need a mood stabiliser like lithium or valproate.

ADHD would need treatment with stimulants like amphetamine or atomoxetine.

In my opinion, you should be given Lithium (a mood stabiliser to take care or manic-depression), a SSRI (prozac preferably), atomoxetine for ADHD and a benzo (like clonazepam) on SOS basis if anxiety is intense and you have problem of insomnia.

Kindly discuss this with your doctor as these are prescription drugs.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
