Suggest Treatment For Arthritis In Feet

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Nov 2016
Question: I have arthritis in both feet and on both they are being forced into the toes beside them by bunions. My mother had the same problem and her toes were sideways by the time she died. Mine are not particularly painful but they are slowly deforming my feet. I do have significant pronation but I don't tolerate hard orthotics well and my doctor believes that is the only viable correction short of surgical straightening of the large toe. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Brief Answer:
Using toe spacers will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
At your age arthritis is a common problem and if the arthritis is long standing then deformity of toes and feet is common.
You have right now a mild deviation of the toe that is likely to increase further if proper steps are not taken to stop this.
I recommend you to -

*Wear sandles with a wide and deep toe box.. This can often solve the problem and prevent you from needing more treatment.

*Wear felt or foam pads on your foot to protect the bunion.

* Wear sandles with Correct Toes spacers. Spacers to separate the first and second toes.
In case the problem increases then surgical correction is the only option.
I hope this answers your query.
