Brief Answer:
You should follow your doctor's advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
When there is moderate to severe accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity, tapping should be done.
As she is having fluid accumulation in legs also,Diuretic (medicine which reduces the fluid accumulation by letting out through urine)is preferred. You should follow your doctor's prescription.Self medication can lead to serious electrolyte disturbances.
For diarrhoea, I prescribe Pre and Probiotic capsule twice daily to my patients. If nausea is severe,I prescribe Ondansetron 4mg tablet twice daily.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards

Brief Answer:
Fluid accumulation should be controlled.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

There will be fluid accumulation in Cirrhosis and heart failure. Normal liver tissue is replaced by fibrous tissue in Cirrhosis leading to fluid accumulation.

You can regularly check the girth of the abdomen to know the increase or decrease in fluid collection. If fluid accumulation is increasing, you should consult the doctor immediately and adjust the dose of medicines.

Medical treatment can be taken as prescribed by doctor.
At age of 92, medical treatment is safer than tapping. Excess fluid is better removed from kidneys. If abdomen is very much tensed due to huge accumulation, then tapping can be done. That too only partial fluid is to be removed under ultrasound guidance to avoid organ damage.

Hope I answered your query. Kindly post specific questions you need to know so that I am better able to help.
