Suggest Treatment For Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Apr 2017
Question: I have been taking aromotase inhibitors since having some calicifications removed from my left breast which were diagnosed as Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia. I find it annoying to be treated as if I have or had breast cancer when over nad over I was told that ADH is neither cancer nor even precancerous. I have no family history of any kind of cancer. I have had a number of side effects when I started on Letrozole so the oncologist swiched me to Arimidex. Last blood test my alkaline phosphotase was elevated. I so not want to be treated for something I don't hve and as a reult get something new which then might require more drugs or treatment. It seems like just a Big Pharm amoneymaker and I'm not willing to be their guinea pig or cash cow.

Brief Answer:
Ask the doctors to make clear your diagnosis and what you are being treated

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed this information. The treatment and the reported diagnosis do not tie. I am wondering whether the doctor failed to communicate exactly what you are being treated for or there are some missing pieces of information. I will suggest that you confront the oncologist clearly to get what the exact reason for this treatment is. Just like your primary doctor said, it is a bit hasty to stop this medication without further discussions with the prescribing oncologist. Your concerns are genuine and I would be equally concerned If i were in your shoes. Besides, this costs lots of money and terrible side effects that you must only take when you have enough reasons to do so.

I hope this helps. I wish you get to follow up as soon as possible with your doctor about this. Keep me posted on the outcome.
