Question: Last year I was diagnosed with a pinched nerve in my lower back. Surgery was scheduled but was cancelled due to my wife's health. At the time I was on a walker and could barley get around.Fast forward to today. I can walk O.K. My legs are a little weak with my left left leg being the weakest. My gait is not normal but I have no trouble walking today.Inclines give me a little challenge but am am able to cover them. Question! Will my pinched nerve continue to improve or will it one day go back to where it was before or is it anybodys guess?

Brief Answer:
There is considerable chance of improvement; get an MRI done

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in Healthcaremagic.com.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
First of all, it would be of great help if you can upload or send your MRI reports. And if it was done 1 year ago, it is better to get a repeat MRI done to compare the current status with the previous one.
Coming to your scope of improvement, as there had been considerable improvement in your symptoms and quality of life, we should be hopeful about further betterment. In many cases of pinched nerve, regular exercise and medications has proved to be of great help and might even rule out the need for operation.
So I believe that your symptoms should improve further though one cannot guarantee you that.
Just avoid any sudden forward bending and heavy weight lifting.
Continue physiotherapy which I believe you were doing; if not, kindly start with the help of a physiotherapist.
You can take pregabalin-mecobalamin for neurologic pain if needed.

Kindly get back with the reports.

Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.
